Following the Nuremberg Trials (20 November 1945 - 1 October 1946), Seven Nuremberg-sentenced high-ranking Nazi war criminals arrive in West Berlin's Spandau Prison, 18 July 1947.

No. 1, Baldur von Schirach, aged 40, Nazi national youth leader and Reich Governor of Vienna, sentenced to 20 years; released 30 September 1966. No. 2, Erich Raeder, aged 73, Naval Grand Admiral, sentenced to life; released 26 September 1955 due to failing health. No. 3, Konstantin von Neurath, aged 74, Foreign Minister, sentenced to 15 years; released 6 November 1954 due to ill-health. No. 4, Karl Dönitz, aged 55, Naval Admiral, sentenced to 10 years; released 30 September 1956. No. 6, Reich Minister for Foreign Affairs Walther Funk, 56, sentenced to life; released 16 May 1957 due to poor health. No. 5, Albert Speer, aged 42, sentenced to 20 years; released together with von Schirach, 30 September 1966. And No. 7, sentenced to life, Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess; lone convict from 30 September until his death, 17 August 1987.
