Ulrich Wetzel is a TV judge who has so far become known mainly for his judgments in criminal court. Now he is back on the screens with Ulrich Wetzel - Das Jugendgericht. In the new real-life show with the popular jurist, the focus is on the crimes of juvenile suspects. These are analyzed in detail by Ulrich Wetzel before he announces his verdict in each case. In the process, Wetzel is accompanied by a team that includes familiar faces from previous episodes of the court series as well as new male and female lawyers and prosecutors.

WHAT IS "ULRICH WETZEL - DAS JUGENDGERICHT" ABOUT?
In this TV format, the focus is on the misdemeanors and crimes of people who are not yet adults. Together with his team of prosecutors and defense attorneys, Judge Ulrich Wetzel tries criminal cases involving young people between the ages of 14 and 21 in his courtroom show. The cases are as true to life as they are emotional, and keep viewers on the edge of their seats as they share in the individual stories and circumstances that drive young people to commit crimes. These range from assault to theft to arson.

THE JUVENILE COURT IS BACK: WHO IS JUDGE ULRICH WETZEL?
Wetzel is a trained lawyer who was admitted to the bar in 1987 after studying in Würzburg and Frankfurt am Main. He already appeared on camera for the courtroom show Das Strafgericht between 2002 and 2008. Wetzel was also director of the local court in Seligenstadt until his retirement in 2022. In 2004, while filming Das Strafgericht, the lawyer met his current wife Beate, who played a judge there as an extra. Wetzel attributes his expertise as a TV judge in the area of juvenile criminal law to his many years of experience as a juvenile court judge and juvenile lay judge at the district court in Friedberg.

According to his own statement, the judge is looking forward to being able to convey this experience to viewers with the help of the new show. He will be assisted in the courtroom by both familiar and new attorneys and assessors. For example, the prosecutor Benita Brückner is part of the new edition and fights full of passion and commitment for more justice and fair trials. But also the defense attorneys Christopher Posch, Manon Heindorf and Jörn-Jacob Guthold are fully committed to their juvenile clients and do everything to give them the best possible options for a crime-free life despite their offenses.
