Silvia Surian

I am a trained and qualified film translator with 15 years of experience in film and media localisation, first as in-house subtitler and project manager and since 2016 as full-time freelancer working from English/German/Spanish into Italian and from Italian into English.

As member of AVÜ - the German professional association of film and audiovisual translators, I strongly believe in the importance of direct collaboration between filmmakers and professional film translators to ensure that films get the qualitative translations they need to travel the world and meet new audiences by finding their right words into other languages and cultures while respecting the filmmaker's original creative intent.

The services I provide include: screenplay / dialogue list translation, transcription, subtitling, subtitling for deaf and hard-of-hearing, voice-over script adaptation, media and press kit translations, subtitle spotting, subtitle file conversion and adaptation, subtitle quality control, proofreading, and audio description. I work with professional subtitling software and can provide most file formats, and I am familiar with Netflix and other streaming platforms' guidelines.
