Regina, Vera, Alek - Russians In New York

This short documentary portrays the experience of three immigrants from the Soviet Union, living in New York City. The film focuses on the cultural crossroads between a complex Russian collectivist heritage and the American culture marked by a high degree of individualization. Juxtaposing interview clips and using an impressionistic visual style, the film attempts to distil an essence of the diasporic state.
