December, 1981. Franciszka, a devout Catholic, decides to use a family celebration - the baptism of her youngest grandchild - to reconcile her feuding children. She has them all together, in the family home, for the first time in fifteen years. However, General Jaruzelski stands in her way, imposing martial law that day. Franciszka, afraid that her children will disperse to their homes, decides to hide the truth about the events in the country. A small lie triggers an avalanche of events that will be hard to stop.
