    Brief synopsis

Adrienne Mark is one of the "world's most famous women". Adulated novelist, militant humanist, she belonged to that handful of artists and philosophers who would profoundly influence sixties culture. Of French nationality and Jewish descent she epitomized the highest hopes of modernity for a new life and radical change. Yet today, Adrienne in her turn feels outmoded. She no longer recognizes the world she helped to forge, nor that America which was for many years her second home. Urged on by her agent, the novelist decides that it's time to return to Paris to try to buy the house where she spent her childhood...
