Hammamet reflects on a burning cross-section of recent Italian history. Twenty years have passed since the death of one of the most discussed leaders of the Italian twentieth century - Bettino Craxi – and his name, which once filled the chronicles, is closed today in a deafening silence. It’s scary, it digs into dark memories, it’s removed without appeal. Based on real evidence, the film does not want to be a faithful chronicle nor a militant pamphlet. Imagination can betray the real facts but not the truth. The narrative has the course of a thriller, it is spread over three main characters: the fallen king, the daughter who fights for him, and a third character, a mysterious boy, who introduces himself into their world and tries to unhinge it from within.
