Brief synopsis

The documentary film "Gleis 11" by the young director Çağdaş Eren Yüksel (27) is a portrait of this first generation of immigrants. "Pioneers of the first hour" is what Yüksel, who belongs to the third generation of Turkish immigrants, respectfully calls them. His film gives a voice to the grandparents' generation, which has had little to say in the German public sphere. In the form of a parallel montage, seven protagonists tell of their dreams and hopes, of life in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1960s and 1970s up to the present.

"A memorial for an entire generation" (ZDF) // "Çağdaş Eren Yüksel has tackled an overdue topic with Gleis11" (ARD) //

A cocktailfilms production commissioned by the Ministry for Children, Family, Refugees and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia with the support of phoenix, ARD Mediathek, ZDF Mediathek and the Federal Agency for Civic Education.
