„Broad Peak” is a dramatic story based on real events of Maciej Berbeka – the legendary world-renowned Himalayan climber who wanted to reach the top of one of the most dangerous mountains in the world. It is from his perspective that we get to see the backstory of the first ever winter ascent on the Broad Peak summit, accomplished by the Polish expedition in 2013. A tale of beautiful yet destructive passion alongside an incredible determination that pushes a man to the very edge. Ultimately, it is also a moving love story.
„Broad Peak” is the first Polish feature film about Himalayan mountaineering. To faithfully convey the realities of the expedition and bring the audience closer to the power of the highest mountains in the world, a crew of filmmakers flew to Karakoram. The shots were taken at the base of K2 and the Broad Peak, with the latter at over 5,000 metres above sea level high.
