The "Charreria" is Mexico's national sport. At a kind of rodeo, the charros, as the Mexican cowboys call themselves, demonstrate their skills in riding, lassoing and handling untamed horses. Since the 1950s women have had their own discipline at the charreria: the "Escaramuza". In this equestrian competition, the participants are not only interested in speed and precision, for them the choreography on horseback always means a negotiation of the role of women and the question of tradition, modernity and identity. "360° Geo Reportage" accompanied the proud riders.
