Kellner, Kö & Kohle - A time travel through Düsseldorf 1945-1949...
...takes the viewers back to the time directly after the Second World War. The war is over, Düsseldorf, like many other cities, lies in ruins. The photographer Hans Berben captures life in the destroyed city in his pictures.
The film tells the stories behind his pictures. These include the founding of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the beginnings of the Kom(m)ödchen, teenage coal thieves at the "Fringsen" and the waiters' race across the Kö.
The "tour guides" on this journey through time are a woman and a man - dressed in the style of the forties - who take us on a tour through the flourishing Rhine metropolis of today and the city in ruins in the post-war period.
