    Kurzinhalt

The Dangers, a 15min film, refers to inner tensions of personal, particularly female, identity and the external manifestation of these tensions in the forms of sexual expression and propensity to violence. It expresses this upholding an assumption that time as a concept is fluid and malleable. The choice to explore these concepts through film is inextricably linked to the psychoanalytical cinematic concepts around what it means for the identity to view and associate one’s self with an external identity(ies) on screen. This is especially relevant for The Dangers as it depicts the now-familiar ‘film within a film’ scenario. My goal is to develop a new form of narrative filmmaking: the subconscious narrative. This comes from a belief that multiple realities can exist simultaneously, including realities of identity; that one can be simultaneously multiple identities. This is particularly the case when confronted with notions of sexuality and gender identity. I am fascinated by the propensity of humans to fantasize or even create monstrous acts of violence in one moment, but to fantasize or create sexual acts in the next; particularly in cases where one act feeds off the other.
