After making fun of a film in a cinema Edgar Schwarz, a famous film critic, walks home, but a dark figure like the one from the movie is following him. The lonely college student, Ludwig Dupin is watching the same old thriller film in his room. He is obsessed by the idea of writing a great crime story. In the middle of the night he finds the perfect inspiration.
