Backwards

This work will see a mass participatory event take place in the heart of a city, while at a very personal level asking; what happens when our thoughts, motivations, histories and futures reverse? Are we ever really in control? Does cause and effecr really determine our lives? It asks what happens when an individual life is lived backwards and suggests the whole notion of progress can be called into question.
The company will work with participants to create a large-scale site-specific performance taking place in a city where everything runs backwards. Following the performance, a film will be shown in which the real backwardness is made to run forwards - creating the illusion of a world that we can understand but which has never existed.
