The absence is about an inner conflict of a couple that lost their incomparable long time ago. What remains are anxiousness, desire and the incapacity to find intimacy with other persons. This paralysation in the past expresses itself in both protagonists in a different way. He never stopped loving her and longs for her with obsession and tries to compensate this lack of love by having sex with women who does not mean a thing to him. She suffers of not being capable to love neither him nor another person.
