The Adaptation (No-thing me-lanch-oly ’bout us)
Six French soldiers are getting drunk in the General Mobilization Office of a small village in France. It is 1940 and the Germans seem to have won the war. Waiting to become prisoners of war the French soldiers experience a serious identity void - they are no longer soldiers, they are yet to be prisoners and their former occupations seem like distant dreams. In this adaptation of Sartre’s novel Iron in The Soul, the soldiers are trapped in their performance of melancholic boozing up - the only outside link being a remote controlled Monster Truck smashing through the WWI battlefield at Fort Douaumont in Verdun.
