Postcards from Ukraine

Nachdem er mit seiner Band in der Ukraine tourte, fuhr Sieva Diamantakos zurück nach Kiew, wo er in die Maidan Revolution (2013 – 2014), die sogenannte „Revolution der Würde“ verwickelt wird. Fasziniert vor allem von den jungen Menschen, die ihm wie eine Mischung aus alten sowjetischen Werten und der neu ins Land eindringenden westlichen Kultur vorkommt, entschied er sich fünf Jugendliche zu beobachten, die aus verschiedenen Städten und unterschiedlichen sozialen Hintergründen stammen. Die Charaktere führen ihn an unerwartete Orte: von Separatistenlagern in Lugansk und den Maidan-Platz, zu Protesten in Kiew, den Oligarchen Städte in Kharkiv und den pro-russischen Vororten in Donetsk. Diamantakos Reise steht unter dem massiven Einfluss der Propaganda; vom Beginn des Krieges im östlichen Teil des Landes bis zum Jahrestag der Revolution und endet mit Rede des Präsidenten Poroschenko. In dokumentierenden Fragmenten erzählt der Autor von Menschenleben und historischen Ereignissen, verbindet diese postkartengleich und wirft auf die heutige Ukraine ein Licht, das den Hoffnungsschein der jungen Generation – ihre Werte, ihre Träume, in einer Zeit der bewaffneten Krisensituation widerspiegelt.

In documenting fragments told the author of human life and historical events, this combines postcards equal and raises today's Ukraine a light that the ray of hope to the young generation - that reflects their values, their dreams in a time of armed crisis.
