The cocaine trade as we know it today is one of the largest and most violent criminal enterprises in the world. This is the incredible story of how a notorious Nazi and a Narco overthrew the Bolivian government in 1980 and established the first cocaine state, paving the way for figures like Pablo Escobar and marking the beginning of an industry that has cost the lives of tens of thousands of people every year since.
The story centers on three men: notorious Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, posing as Klaus Altmann; Roberto Suarez, a Bolivian business- man who controlled 90% of the world’s cocaine trade at the time; and eyewitness Michael Levine, an American undercover DEA agent who seeks to expose and destroy them.
