Frühlings Erwachen - nach Motiven von Frank Wedekind (Junge Bühne Mainz)

Cool, wild, determined to do everything and always somehow "in between": Wendla, Martha and Ilse as well as Moritz, Melchior and "Hänschen" - all between 14 and 16 years old - have been friends since childhood. Together they experience a time that is as exciting as it is sometimes dangerous: the time of growing up. Stress at school, pressure to perform, trouble with parents and family, nights of partying, contact with drugs as well as first sexual experiences and their consequences - a veritable rollercoaster ride of emotions, a constant balancing act on the tightrope of life in the glaring - sometimes blinding - spotlight of the world they live in. Danger of falling? Anytime!
In the context of the 100th anniversary of Frank Wedekind's death (2018), the Junge Bühne Mainz is showing for the first time in more than six years an adaptation of this tragedy about growing up, which was published in 1891 and premiered in 1906 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin - in a completely new production. Director Philip Barth's own stage version cautiously transfers the conflicts of the original to the world of life and experience of today's youth (and their parents)
