Johannes Brahms - Die Pranke des Löwen

When Johannes Brahms was born in Hamburg on May 7th, 1833, nobody could have guessed how much the later child prodigy would shape music history. For international music critics, the grandiose symphonic power, the richness of the thematic work and the concentration of the form of his symphonies are on a par with Beethoven's greatest works. But Brahms was melancholy and is considered by many to be a solitary and tragic genius. And yet one can feel the passion in his music. What influenced and inspired Brahms? Who triggered all these feelings in him, which he then transformed into musical masterpieces? Often it was the women in his life that inspired him. Above all, the friendship - or more aptly put, the deep yet unfulfilled love - between him and the famous pianist Clara Schumann accompanied Brahms throughout his life. Though Brahms chose to place art above love, this painful surrender one can feel in his music, inspired writers, filmmakers, and musicians all over the world to this day.
