As the debut of a film series, recordings of Tanztheater Wuppertal’s „Palermo Palermo“,which were made shortly after its premiere in 1989 under the direction of Pina Bausch, will be restored, edited into a film version. The film is an edited version of recordings from three performances from the years 1990. Such recordings are part of the Foundation’s archive which comprises more than 200.000 photos and around 9.000 videos. The material which forms the basis of the film was acquired in 2016 from L’Arche Éditeur Paris.
The intended use of the film comprises the following: The film will be presented to the public in the former „Schauspielhaus“ in Wuppertal, where many performances of Tanztheater Wuppertal took place and which will be reconstructed to a future „Pina Bausch Zentrum“.
The film will also be made available online free of charge on the Foundation’s website. Any intended use is for non commerical purposes.
