Brief synopsis

New York City. March 25, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, located inside the Asch Building, caught fire, causing the death of 146 garment workers, who had been locked inside. Some burned inside. Some jumped to their deaths. This tragic incident led to the legislation on workers' rights and factory safety standards and the formation of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, a union that fought for safety standards for sweatshop workers. The building still stands in New York City, as a National Historic Landmark.
