A businessman books a Santa Claus with his wife from the student employment service for his children on Christmas Eve.
He appears too late and when he realizes that he should only be the mess clown for the children so that they can go to bed quickly, because business friends are supposed to come to dinner, he calls his colleagues.
Suddenly, St. Nicholas, the pregnant archangel Gabriel and servant Ruprecht are sitting in the family living room. The children are enthusiastic, the businessman-dad and his wife are desperate and only by paying a much higher fee than agreed, the now slightly drunk troop disappears in the drizzle-snow night.
