Thanos Tokakis was born in 1980 in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the National Theater of Greece Drama School in 2005. He is an actor, director and drama teacher.
In theater he has directed "Hannele” by Gerhart Hauptmann in 2011, "The Motherfucker with the hat” by Steven Adly Guirgis in 2015 and "The Tin Man and other stories” by Noel Graig in 2023.
In cinema he is the screenwriter, acting coach and co-producer of the awarded short film "Cowboy” (2017).
His debut as a director is the short film "tokakis or What’s My Name” (2022) in which he is also the screenwriter and keeps the leading role. The film was awarded in Drama Short Film Festival (Screenwriting, Costume Design), in Athens International Film Festival (Screenwriting) and was nominated for Best Short Film at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards (2023).
He has worked as an acting coach in films and TV series.
In 2011 he received the Best Performance by a Young Actor in Theater Award and in 2020 the Best Supporting Actor Award by the Hellenic Film Academy. He loves soft ice cream.
