SEDIMENTE (AT) follows the traces of a family and reveals layer by layer the entanglements of two dictatorships. The point of departure are intensive conversations between the filmmaker Laura Coppens and her grandfather, who finally overcomes his silence for fear of forgetting. The film embarks on an archaeological journey through different layers of time, examining three periods of German history - National Socialism, the GDR and the present. A film essay that questions memory and responsibility.
