Pierre Funck - moving music

Pierre Funck was born and grew up in Luxembourg. After completing a degree in chemistry at ETH Zurich, he studied singing, music theory and composition at the Early Music Department of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen (Southern Germany). Later on he completed a Master of Arts degree in composition for film, theatre and media at the Zurich University of the Arts.

Since 2015 he teaches music theory and composition at the Zurich University of the Arts; from 2001 to 2019 he taught music theory, composition and instrumentation at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen.

Since 2007 he works as a film music composer and has scored over 80 films since then.

Pierre Funck is the president of the association Forum Filmmusik, which aims to raise the public attention for film music and to facilitate the exchange of information and experience between film composers and film makers. He is one of the main organisers of the International Film Music Competition.

Besides working as a film music composer, Pierre Funck reconstructs partially extant Renaissance and Baroque works and sings in several professional vocal ensembles..
