Brief synopsis

Garden shows are motors of urban development and crowd pleasers: For decades, millions of visitors flock to garden shows. They are so popular that in 2019, there are two major events in Baden-Württemberg in parallel for the first time: the Bundesgartenschau in Heilbronn and the Remstal-Gartenschau in 16 municipalities.

The film shows the preparations for these garden shows and embarks on a historical search for traces: What has remained of five federal and countless state garden shows? Contemporary witnesses and makers tell of the great plans, struggles and successes that have accompanied the big shows since the Second World War.
