    Brief synopsis

"NACHBARN" (working title) tells the story of a Kurdish boy growing up in a village on the Syrian-Turkish border in the 1980s. Excited and with great anticipation, the little boy awaits his first day at school - but his teacher demands that he renounce his Kurdish culture and stay away from the Jewish neighbours, who treat him like his own son. Instead of promoting the centuries-old coexistence of Arabs, Kurds and Jews, the representative of the Baath Party sows discord and hatred among the children - a cause of today's disaster in Syria.
