About Martin Flament

Born in Nîmes in 1986, I began exploring photography as a child, taking advantage of a shooting studio and a black and white laboratory at home. From chemistry to video, long before cinema, I use the Hi8 family camera for my college presentations. After a Scientific Degree I studied cinema at the University of Montpellier. Later, I obtained my diploma, in the specialty of photography, at the International School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de Banos - Cuba - (EICTV) .

Since the beginning of the 2000s, and in parallel with my studies, I have been collaborating with the French Film Library ( La cinémathèque Française ) within the Docs aux Sels association to run introductory film workshops; these are the workshops « Cinema, 100 years of youth ». I also worked in 2006-2007 as a camera assistant on the « Cité de l'Architecture » project at the Palais de Chaillot, « Before and After », I deepened my knowledge of the long travelling shot that takes on its full meaning to tell the story of spaces.

During my years of studies - 2010-2013 - at the EICTV, I worked on various short films as first assistant camera and then director of photography. The films are screened and awarded in various national and international festivals, among them :

« De agua dulce» by Damian Sainz - Best Documentary at the Uruguay International Film Festival - FICU - and Coral Special of the Jury at the 34th Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana

« Anfitriones » by Miguel Angel Moulet - Third Prize at the Cinéfondation, Cannes, 2012

« Naufrago » by Andrew Vargas - Young Short Film Prize 2014 at the Filmforum Frankfurt-Höchst.

In 2012, I work as chief electrician and first camera assistant on a Cuban independent production feature film « Venecia » by Kiki Alvarez. I am called upon to finalize the visual texture by performing the color correction.
In 2013, I am the chief electrician for José-luis Alcaine and in 2014 for Michael Chapman, during international workshops in Cuba - EICTV.

Between 2013 and 2019, I work as a cinematographer on several documentary films, short fiction films and music videos between France and Latin America.
Exploring all aspects of the image department of a film, I also get involved, on my return to France, in the grip departement.
I am currently working on the development of a feature film, « The Rain » by Lony Welter Sandoval, which will be shot in Colombia.
