About Lorenzo Petracchi
Tuscan by birth, Roman by education, Berliner by adoption. I have been editing video since ever. After a bachelor in Linguistic at the University of Florence and a two-year film-school at the legendary Cinecittà Studios in Rome, I began my professional activity in 2010. Since then, I have worked with several international crews on many kinds of projects, such as national TV shows, music videos, documentaries and a fair number of award-winning features and short movies.
Main titles are: "Il corridoio del grande albergo - The hallway” (2010), "L’imputato - The accused” (2010), "Il Primo giorno” (2011), "The last seed” (2011), "Per il tuo bene” (2012), "Il prigioniero - The prisoner” (2013), "L’ora del buio - The hour of darkness” (2017), "Look Baba I’m happy” (2018), the pilot for the series "Flatmates” (2019), the short documentaries "Exlibris” (2021), "La via del Ferro” (2022 - premiered at the 40th Turin Film Festival), "Back to the basement”, "Happy Landing” and "Night Shift” (2023). In 2020, I edited for Sky Arte the Italian-German feature film "Space Beyond”, directed by Francesco Cannavà. I am currently working on an Italian documentary and a German short-movie.

| Special skills | I have a degree in linguistic communication at University of Florence, I have studied video editing in Cinecittà in Rome and I have almost 15 years of international experience as a video editor. Because of this, I can say that I have been analysing communication and creativity processes basically since ever, focusing my interests on cinema - both fictions and documentaries -, TV productions and music videos. Lately I have worked mostly on FCPX, but I can use Premiere Pro at the same level and, sometimes, Media Composer - it depends also on production requests -. I am skilled with Photoshop, After Effects, Resolve and a medium level knowledge about illustrator. I have experiences as data manager and I have worked as camera operator and camera assistant on independent productions. I am not a cinematographer, but in all these years of experience I had the opportunity to create my own projects as a filmmaker at a professional level. |

| Preferred place of work | My career started in a very small local TV production in Rome and after one year of experience I had the opportunity to become a freelancer, which is my position since then. I really love editing and I am truly passionate when it comes to understand what editing is about. Being a freelancer gave me the opportunity to work on many kinds of different projects. Cinema of course, but also music video, company movies, commercials and a lot more. |
