KINESCOPE FILM is an independent film production company based in Bremen with further branches in Hamburg and Cologne.
Since 2015, the team around producer and director Matthias Greving has been producing national and international feature films, series as well as documentaries and reports for cinema, TV, and streaming services, including award-winning productions such as HANDS OF A MOTHER by Florian Eichinger (Filmfest München, prizes for "Best Director," "Best Leading Actor"). In doing so, KINESCOPE FILM relies on young film talents with their own signature as well as experienced directors and writers. In 2018, KINESCOPE FILM produced the six-part documentary PORN CULTURE for Sky. 2019 the two-part documentary DIE AKTE BND: WAFFENGESCHÄFTE DEUTSCHER REEDER ran as a "Story im Ersten" after seven years of research. The international production BAUMBACHER SYNDROME with actor Tobias Moretti celebrated its world premiere as the opening film at the Hofer Filmtage in 2019.
In terms of documentary topics, one focus is on music documentaries, among others: Starting with the documentary ANNE CLARK - I'LL WALK OUT INTO TOMORROW or LOOK ME OVER - LIBERACE - both for the big screen, to A-HA - THE MOVIE, KOSMOS LIGETI - 100 YEARS OF GYÖRGY LIGETI and the 50th anniversary of John Neumeier at the Hamburg Ballet with DONA NOBIS PACEM to live coverage from the BAYREUTHER FESTSPIELE for Sky Germany, Austria, Italia, and UK. The format was nominated for a Grimme Award in the "Entertainment and Information" category in 2018 and awarded the Bavarian Television Prize in 2019. More live musical shows will follow as international broadcasts and recordings for DAVID GARRETT from Rome, Taormina, Verona, MATTEO BOCELLI, JONAS KAUFMANN, and CHILLY GONZALES. With director Marie Noëlle, KINESCOPE FILM approaches the biography of one of the most important German artists in HEINRICH VOGELER – LIFE OF A DREAMER and is currently preparing with her the feature film KLOCK AROUND THE KLOCK and the docu-fiction DIAGHILEV.
KINESCOPE FILM implements serial formats in factual and fiction: The four-part true-crime series BLACK SHADOW – A NURSE SERIAL KILLER as a co-production for Sky Deutschland and Radio Bremen received much attention in 2021, as did RETOURE for NDR in the following year, directed by Torsten Wacker. In 2022, KINESCOPE FILM produced, among others, the documentary BOLSHOI as well as the debut feature film FORCES (directed by Constantin Hatz), which participated in the Berlinale the same year and won the Heiner Carow Award. This year, the feature film ELAHA (director: Milena Aboyan) premiered at the Berlinale, and INVENTING TRUTH - THE RELOTIUS AFFAIR premiered for Sky Deutschland at the CPH:DOX in Copenhagen. The debut film AT SUMMERS END (director: Frauke Lodders), the documentary DAS GAZPROM-GEHEIMNIS and the reportage series THW - ABENTEUER EHRENAMT were also completed.
KINESCOPE FILM is increasingly focusing on European and international co-productions with partners from America, Canada, Hungary, France, and Poland. These include primarily feature film and documentary projects and animated films with Hollywood greats such as Glen Keane.
KINESCOPE FILM looks for the ideal medium for each story. No matter what format or subject: the goal is to achieve the optimal result together with all parties involved. To achieve this, KINESCOPE FILM works with flat hierarchies and flexible structures, at eye level with all participants, always in the spirit of the respective material and with the highest level of commitment, a lot of experience, and international distribution networks. Long-term artistic collaborations emerge and develop from this philosophy.
