    Brief synopsis

Kazimierz Proszynski was a designer of the first cinematographic apparatuses, film cameras, aeroscope - the first hand-held film camera and inventor of the step-by-step movement of the film tape. He grew up in an intellectual family with strong patriotic traditions. At the age of 13, together with his friend Mieczysław Karłowicz, who later became a composer, he put on shows using mirrors and dimmed lamps. In his first year of studies in Belgium he constructed an apparatus for photographs and film projections, which he called a pleograph. He invented a system of moving the light-sensitive tape, which revolutionised the recording of moving images and the film industry. With the first hand-held camera with image stabilization he constructed, he recorded the coronation of King George V in London. During the occupation, he became active in the underground. During the Warsaw Uprising he was arrested by the Gestapo. He died at the age of 70 in the Mauthausen-Gusen camp.
