Julius Bürger (1897-1995) had to flee abroad in 1938 to escape National Socialism. He eventually found a new home in New York, where he lived until his death. His compositions would probably have been forgotten if the young lawyer Ronald S. Pohl had not taken the initiative in the early 1990s and organized premieres in New York.
In August 2023, the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra with soloists Anna Litvinenko and Matija Meić under the direction of Gottfried Rabl gave the Austrian premiere of several of Bürger's works. The documentary accompanies the project with interviews with Ronald Pohl, musicologist Ryan Hugh Ross and the performers.
