After her father’s death, detective Juliet Dumon leaves Brussels and heads back to De Haan, where she takes a temporary post with the local team of detectives. At the same time, she looks for a foster family for her teenage niece, Chloë. Juliet throws herself into her new job, but is confronted with her unprocessed guilt surrounding the death of her mother, as well as her own ambiguous feelings about motherhood.
