About Julia Effertz

Old soul in the guise of a Golden Retriever.
Julia is a an award-winning German actress of Polish and Flemish heritage. She can currently be seen in Julie Delpy's most recent drama "My Zoe" (starring Richard Armitag and Gemma Arterton), as well as season 4 of award-winning AMAZON ORIGINAL comedy series “The Glory is Gone” opposite Kai Wiesinger and Bettina Zimmermann, and German procedural series "The Specialists" (ZDF/UFA).

Growing up trilingually with English, German and French, Julia trained as an actress in Paris, Oxford and London, where her dramatic range and comedic chops earned her rave reviews and a "Best Lead Actress" nomination at the 2011 Off West End Awards London.
Julia mader her German Television debut in "My Daughter’s children" (2013) opposite Jürgen Prochnow (Das Boot, Dune), René Ifrah (Homeland), and Kida Khodr Ramadan (4 Blocks).

Her talent as a comedy writer has received multiple accolades: Julia is a 2018 Funny Women Awards nominee with her romantic comedy “So, how did you and dad meet?”, which went on to have a successful international festival run.
Her comedy about burnout, "180 km/empty" is currently touring festivals worldwide and has been awarded Honorable Mention at the Berlin Flashfilmfestival 2019, as well as the 2nd prize at the mo.bile Handyfilmfestival 2019.

Julia divides her time between Berlin, London and Paris, and works on productions across borders and languages. When not trying out a new French dessert, Julia loves to hone her Thai Boxing skills as well as dance her heart out, tea cup in hand.
