About Jules* Elting
JULES* ELTING is a trans actor based in Berlin.
Born in Hamburg Jules* studied contemporary dance at the Martha-Graham School in NYC & acting at the theater and music university in Leipzig, Germany. After a classical theatre career in German Stadttheater, they worked for 10 years in Brazil as company member of "Teatro Oficina", São Paulo, one of Brazil's biggest and most famous theatres and founder of Tropicália.
Since 2015 they are known for international cinema productions, such as "The Ornithologist" by João Pedro Rodrigues, which won the Silver Leopard in Locarno. 2019 they were chosen as one of three German actors as TALENT at Berlinale. "King Car" by Renata Pinheiro in which they play one of the leads premiered in competition at IFFR / International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021 and won Best Film at the Brazilian Oscars, Filmfestival Gramado, where Jules* was also nominated for Best Acting. They hosted the 35th Teddy Award at Berlinale Film Festival in 2021. "Vampires in Space" with Jules* in the main cast premiered in at the Biennale in Venice. "Melk" celebrated its world premiere in summer 2023 at Venice International Filmfestival. In 2023 Jules* Elting starred in several big German TV productions, such as Tatort und had a fix role in the new queer mystery series "Brüt" filmed in Hamburg for ARD/NDR. In 01/2024 Jules* was nominated as Newcomer 2023 by the Brazilian Critics Award Guarani.
