Jessica Trocha

Jessica Trocha graduated from the Folkwang University of the Arts in 2020 and made guest appearances at Theater Dortmund and Theater Bonn, among others, during her studies. Her first engagement took her to the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord in Wilhelmshaven, where she was permanently employed for two years. There she debuted with her first solo program "On Failure,” in which she relentlessly dealt with growing up and the (inevitably) associated failure. Jessica studied musical theater but doesn't believe in rigid categorizations. She sees herself as a hybrid and is primarily interested in interdisciplinary, feminist and political pieces that use different forms of theater to create new interfaces and material. Together with her collective, she won the Folkwang Prize 2019 for her first piece development of the musical "Wo man stuck" and was a finalist in the Federal Singing Competition in Berlin that same year. Together with Lara Hofmann, Jessica Trocha founded the "musical network” working group in 2023 as part of the Germany-wide "ensemble network”, which has been successfully advocating for the meaning and conditions of artists and artistic staff since 2015.
