Combining good entertainment with topics of social relevance to satisfy the audience both on an emotional and intellectual level is East End Film’s proclaimed goal.
East End Film is a young and ambitious production company specializing on international co-productions and always looking to extend its network of international partners. The company was founded by the siblings Tommy and Elaine Niessner in 2011.
Their first theatrical feature film was a co-production with 27 Films Production by German-Georgian director Dito Tsintsadze which was shot in Stuttgart and was released in 2016 and on the short list for the German Film Prize 2017.
The interest in international co-productions was sparked during Elaine’s stay at an Australian film school in 2009. In order to find out more, she decided to choose it as a topic for her Master Thesis back at her German University. In mid 2011 she finished her thesis titled “International Co-Productions in the Feature Film Industry with Special Emphasis on Germany and Australia“. Around the same time, East End Film was established with the goal of stepping into the field of international co- productions. Whilst developing their first projects, Tommy and Elaine used markets and film festivals to build up a network of international partners.
