Katja (Henriette Müller), a young woman in her mid-twenties, awakes in a cell in a basement. A man introduces himself to her – Peter Fischer (Thomas Limpinsel), a writer who explains why she's here: she is his muse and the inspiration for his new book, and she is supposed to stay captured voluntarily so that he can keep on writing. He tries to make her realize that he's working on something important, and that she could be a part of it.
A power game develops between the two of them: Katja tries to find out about Fischer's weaknesses and exploit them in order to flee, while Fischer tries again and again to convince her of the importance of his work and punishes her for her attempts to escape. The situation escalates ...
