Brief synopsis
For Cal, life in this strict regime is characterized by a longing for a different way of life, a longing for friendship, affection, and partnership. A longing that no one around Cal seems to share, except for a young woman with whom he cannot speak, because she is further ahead of him in the queue. Cal’s experiences in the queue give him the final impulse to break out of the system.
