Georg Büchner - Woyzeck (Junge Bühne Mainz)

He is at the very bottom of society: in order to be able to care for his girlfriend Marie and their child at all, Woyzeck rushes from one casual job to the next. For example, he regularly shaves a military captain and has himself put on a pea diet as part of an extremely questionable medical experiment. In the process, Woyzeck becomes the plaything of society. Little by little he drifts off into a world of his own full of delusions and brutal fantasies. Hunted, driven, tortured - soon Woyzeck seems to be more of a "trained animal" than a "free man". When he then has to watch painfully as his beloved Marie - the mother of his child - cheats on him with another, very attractive and socially much better off man, Woyzeck loses touch with reality. He gets himself a knife... The tragic story of a man who is robbed of all dignity and degraded by society to a wild animal. But the question arises again and again as to who is actually the true "beast" here. The production "Woyzeck" has been running (with interruptions) since 2013 in the repertoire of the acting section at the Theater Junge Bühne Mainz. The cast to be experienced in this recording plays the production since 2017 until today...
