Anne from Wandlitz nearby Berlin lives in two worlds. At home at her parents´ house she is the 20years old daughter who just has started her first job. At night and on the weekends she becomes A-Chan, the wild and provocative fan of Visual Kei. Visual Kei is a colorful mixture of glam rock, punk and manga and originates in Japan.
Anne has created an animated Alter Ego, a manga girl, who has much more power than the real Anne/A-Chan. Via her Alter Ego she helps herself through her complicated life – copes with problems, fears and dreams. The Alter Ego helps her to develop a self confident personality and to believe in herself – no matter what the other nasty folks in her little home-village think of her.
The documentary wandlitz.tokyo follows Anne into her daily life in rural Wandlitz and switches over into the animé-world of the Alter Ego. The films shows A-Chan hanging out in the Visual Kei-scene of Berlin and finally accompanies her making her dream come true: Travelling to Tokyo, the birthplace of Visual Kei.
