Showbands

his two part drama, imbued with the music, atmosphere and nostalgia of the showband era, is an endearing tale of bar cleaner Denise (Kerry Katona), whose dreams of songstress stardom have been languishing in the bottom of her mop bucket. Along with a has-been manager she sets about carving her way through the corrupt local music scene, overcoming local opposition from a powerful and sinister local music promoter.
An evocative trip filled with powerful renditions of showband classics and some mightily impressive beehives (of the hair variety) Showbands is perfect feel good television.
