Set over a single day and night in a small, Manhattan hotel, this story leads us through the lives of its temporary inhabitants. As the paths of these strangers cross, they become connected. On the roof of the hotel, Helen, a flight attendant whose cancer has just returned, meets Marc, an actor whose personal life is a wreck. In a room below, Marketa, a young Czech woman left alone by her boyfriend, connects with Marlene, a Cuban chambermaid as they struggle to communicate in broken English about the world outside. Brendan, age seven, is left alone for an evening and mistakenly dials a phone sex hotline, connecting with a woman who lives and works alone. A troubled young runaway, Hallie, shares an encounter with Adam, a Danish businessman, which neither will soon forget. As we drift in and out of their rooms and lives we find these strangers connecting in brief moments of friendship, compassion and even hope.
