Kurzinhalt

The sixties in Belo Horizonte evoked by means of citations from poems, films, and souvenirs from those days. The bar, again, is part of the geography and of the culture of the city. And again, the scene of cloistering, loneliness, and boredom. There, a lunatic is ecstatic about little girls. A beggar discusses ethics and morals with a politician. The characters succeed each other: a knife grinder passes by with his sad rhythmic song; the dustmen from a garbage collectors walk past aimlessly; a girl tries to play the flute, but gives up for lack of inspiration. In the midst of this, Vitelloni and Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2 ; Faces, by Cassavetes; The Devil and the Flesh and An Andalusian Dog, by Buñuel; The Birds, by Hitchcock; Last Year in Marienbad, by Resnais; Maiakovski ("It is better to die from vodka than to die from boredom"); and Potemkin, by Eisenstein. The opening text is by Carlos Drummond de Andrade, the poems are by David Neves, recited by Carlos Reichenbach. (Quelle: http://en.mostra.org/movie/4138)
