Maciej Całka

I am a DoP and an operator with a Master’s in Law, a graduate of the Wajda School as well as courses at the K. Kieślowski Film School and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Active in the industry since 2014, I follow a hands-on path. I worked on Polish and international sets, performing every role in the cinematography dept. I combine mathematical pragmatism with a childlike joy of creation. My technical experience allows my unrestricted artistic expression. While creating arthouse films, commercials, and documentaries for a diverse clientele, I have learned to communicate effectively with collaborators and crew on matters of creativity, logistics, and budget. I have worked with nearly all commonly used cameras on the market, as well as several niche ones, while on virtual and augmented reality projects. I live for cinema—though, of course, I also cherish moments at sea, in the mountains, or contemplating the next destination in a Polonez, which has so far managed to reach the Sahara and back without major issues (200 dollar communist era Polish car).
