Kurzinhalt

“Estranged” (German: “Entfremdet”) is German director Stephan Mursch’s graduation film. It is a 20-minute documentary shot on locations in and around Berlin, Germany in March 2009.

The film follows the 32-year old homosexual Markus Ecke. Being physically disabled as well as conditioned psychologically, Markus after leaves a psychiatric facility after a long period stay, and embarks on a journey to finally gain control and autonomy over his life. He’s accompanied on his way by his therapist Ulli Pollack whose physically disabled himself. Together they encounter some of Berlin’s Gay Scene’s most flamboyant characters such as 82-old WW2-survivor Gottfried Stecher and the fancy travesty-performer Miss Ginger.

The film was produced in cooperation between the Arts University College at Bournemouth and the University of Film- & Television “Konrad Wolf” (Potsdam, Germany). Students from both countries worked together to create and realize this production.
