Microorganisms are small biofactories that can be used to produce many everyday products efficiently, cost-effectively and sustainably. Developing such bioprocesses for industry is costly and time-consuming. The "DigInBio" project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aims to change that: Here, the possibilities of digitalization, automation and miniaturization are being explored to accelerate process development in industrial biotechnology.
