Ainhoa was born by miracle in La Paz (Bolivia) after the death of her mother Amanda in an alleged vigilante attack. She grew up in Cuba and in 1988, at the age of 21, she set out on a journey of initiation, her first destination being the Basque Country, to get to know the land of her father Manex. In the midst of the repressive conflict, she meets Josune, a committed journalist, and her gang of friends. When Josune's boyfriend dies of a heroin overdose, she decides to accompany Ainhoa on her journey, which continues through Lebanon, Afghanistan and the city of Marseille. It is the last years of the Cold War and they both enter the dark world of drug trafficking networks and their close links with political plots.
