Fragonard

The anatomist Honoré Fragonard, a cousin of Jean Honoré Fragonard (one of the most distinguished genre painters of the 18th Century), was an extravagant and enigmatic figure of the Enlightenment.
A brilliant scientist, he pushed the art of dissection to perfection by making anatomical incisions of exceptionally high quality thanks to a method of preserving bodies which is still not understood to this day.
Celebrated in his time, his name has unfortunately fallen into obscurity. He was passionate about the Arts, and often visited the painter David and many artistic personalities of the period.
